Construction worker killed in fall on New York work site

Working in construction can mean that a person will have to work in dangerous conditions or at high heights on temporary structures. Even though it is quite common for construction workers to be in such hazardous environments, they should be able to expect that they will be safe on a site and that proper safety precautions have been taken by their employers and third parties who are also involved in a project. If any of these people neglect this responsibility, a worker can be seriously injured or killed.

One of the most common accidents that can happen on a jobsite is a fall from scaffolding and ladders that are often found in a construction area. Falling from these temporary structures can result in serious injuries, from broken bones to sprains to traumatic brain injuries. In fact, any fall on a job site can cause serious and painful injuries. In some cases, a fall can even be fatal.

Recently, a 42-year-old construction worker was killed in a tragic fall on construction site in Queens, New York. According to reports, the man was working in the freezing cold constructing an apartment building. Somehow, the man stepped through a hole in the floor and he fell 15 feet down into the basement below him. In the fall, he also hit his head on a steel girder. The worker was rushed to the hospital, but it was too late. He died as a result of his injuries.

Work on the site of this devastating accident has come to a stop so that the area can be investigated. It is likely that investigators will be focused on figuring out why there was a hole in the ground in the first place, and whether there should have been signage or other warnings in place to protect workers from falling through the ground. If negligence played a role in this accident, the man’s family may choose to pursue compensation for their loss.

The dangers that construction workers face on a daily basis put them at an increased risk of falling or being injured by falling objects. Because of this, there are legal protections in place to keep these workers safe. If an accident does occur, victims and their families can choose to hold a negligent party accountable for any resulting injuries or fatalities.
